ORIGINS

Big Blue Dive & Fish opened in 1996 to create Nelson's first specialised Dive Store. Our objective is to provide professional Scuba Diver training with relevant equipment sales and service. In conjunction with diving, fishing has also become a major part of the business with that focus being mainly on Salt Water fishing.

The business is owned and operated by Mario Alessi who has been with the store since it's opening. Mario is a keen fisherman and diver and has be instructing diving since 1998. Mario was born in Nelson and has lived here for most of his life and has excellent local knowledge of dive and fishing sites throughout the top of the South Island. He is also a qualified service technician for most major brands of dive equipment.

Diver Training is provided through Scuba Schools International, an Internationally recognised training agency and Big Blue Dive & Fish offer beginner courses through to Dive Controller level. SSI diver training is provided through 24 authorised dealers throughout New Zealand with over 2000 authorised dealers in over 90 countries.

STORE

Big Blue Dive & Fish is a convenient retail outlet that provides Nelson's most extensive and comprehensive range of SCUBA DIVING and SNORKELLING equipment as well as a range of SPEARFISHING equipment and accessories.

There is full Equipment Hire for Snorkelling and Scuba available. The store is a New Zealand Underwater Association approved Air Filling Station and complies with latest "Pure Air" standards.

Big Blue Dive & Fish has a large selection of FISHING equipment from children's handlines through to 2 speed game sets. There is an extensive array of TACKLE accessories from "make it yourself components" through to "ready to fish" rigs. There is also a large selection of frozen and preserved BAIT and BERLEY.

Our motto is, "If we don't have it, we can get it!"

LOCATION

Big Blue Dive & Fish is conveniently located next to the Nelson Marina next to a Fuel Service Station and Boating Chandlery supplier. There is ample parking for vehicles and boats and there is direct access to the main port boat ramp as well as the State Highway north to the Marlborough Sounds.
